The PhD Pipeline Opportunity Program is another excellent resource for individuals interested in doctoral study.  This innovative program at Duke partners with underrepresented institutions to increase the "pipeline" of doctoral candidates.  Read more below and on the website.

Funding - Heads Up - AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students Application

Just an FYI that the AICPA Fellowship for Minority Doctoral Students Application will be posted on the AICPA's website in December 2011.  Set your calendars...

What materials are required to apply for this program?
  • A completed application form
  • An official academic transcript from each institution from which you have received a degree
  • Confidential references from two individuals
When is the application deadline for the 2012-13 program?
April 1, 2012 (postmarked)

Am I eligible for the AICPA Minority Doctoral Fellowship if I am receiving additional funding for my studies?Depending on the type of additional program funding you are receiving, you may or may not be eligible. If you are receiving a stipend from the university you are enrolled in, you are eligible for the AICPA Minority Doctoral Fellowship. If you will receive a stipend from the Accounting Doctoral Scholarship (ADS) Program, you are not eligible for the AICPA Minority Doctoral Fellowship award.

Research - How to Read Greek...

During my visits to PhD Programs, I was able to visit doctoral accounting research seminars.  Visiting the seminars is key to understanding how learning occurs at the doctoral level.  I had a blast.

The "down side" is that these seminars require a significant amount of reading.  Some of which is very similar to Greek.  Ha!
